The digital platform of the "Jisr for empowerment and leadership" program, aimed at facilitating the empowerment of women in the Marrakech-Safi region, was launched on Friday in the ochre city, at a meeting attended by the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and the Family, Aawatif Hayar.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Hayar explained that the launch of this platform marks an important stage in the process of implementing this program, which is the fruit of the efforts of all territorial players throughout the region.

Noting that the Kingdom has made the issue of women and guaranteeing their rights a major priority, as evidenced by the particular interest shown by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the promotion of women's conditions, Ms. Hayar also emphasized that the government is committed to implementing the High Royal Orientations in order toensure gender equality and promote the empowerment of women, working to guarantee them access to their political, economic, social and environmental rights, in accordance with the Constitution, the recommendations of the New Development Model and the commitments of the 2021-2026 government program.

After highlighting the important contribution of the Marrakech-Safi region to national wealth creation, as the Kingdom's leading tourist destination, and thanks to the great potentialitiess in various fields, the Minister noted that the activity rate of women compared to men in this region remains low compared to the national average, at 21.6% versus 75.2%.

This is an indicator that calls on us all to make greater efforts to empower women, strengthen their participation in development and reduce existing disparities," she continued.

As part of its commitment to the region's social dynamic, the Ministry is placing great emphasis on reducing the deficit in these areas in this part of the country, she added.In terms of strengthening the social protection system, the region currently ranks first nationally in terms of the number of social centers (517) and the number of beneficiaries (48.966, including children, women, people with special needs and the elderly).

For his part, Karim Kassi-Lahlou, wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, said that this partnership between the ministry, the wilaya and the region's council was intended as a model of convergence between the region's development program and the priorities of the local authorities.velopment program and the national program for the economic empowerment of women, which will undoubtedly contribute to improving the activity rate of women in the region.

M. Kassi-Lahlou explained that the economic empowerment of women in the region was one of the expectations expressed by local players at the regional consultation meeting on the strategy of the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and the Family.The ultimate aim is to give women access to income, training and capital in order to strengthen their place in society and their contribution to economic development.
